Privacy

Gurgaon Startup Map is a directory. It stores very little about the people who use it, and nothing it does not need. This page says exactly what.

Browsing

Reading the map, the grid or any page stores nothing in our database. The hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (request paths, timestamps, IP addresses) for a short time to operate the service.

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how the site is used, so we can make it better. Clarity records the pages you visit, and your clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, along with your device, browser and approximate location. It sets cookies so it can recognise a returning browser. Anything typed into a form is masked before it leaves your browser, and so is your name and email address when you are signed in. There are no advertising scripts on this site. Microsoft handles Clarity data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

If you subscribe to Gurgaon Circle

We store the email address you give us, where on the site you gave it, and — only if you filled them in — your position and the company you work at. Those two fields exist so the roles we send are relevant; they are never required. Nothing is sold or shared.

If you sign in

Sign-in uses Google. We store the name, email address and profile picture Google gives us, together with Google’s identifier for the account so we can recognise you next time — never a password, and never Google’s access tokens. Signing in is what lets you save roles, set job-alert preferences and send a submission, and it is used for nothing else. A signed cookie keeps you signed in for thirty days; signing out clears it.

If you submit a company, an investor or a correction

Submitting takes a signed-in account, so we store what you typed, the account it came from so we can ask a question about it, and the IP address and browser it came from, which we keep to tell people apart from scripts. Submissions are reviewed by hand and are not published as sent.

If you promote your startup

A promotion request stores the company name, your name and email, the link the ad points to, the banner itself, plus the IP address and browser it came from. Payment is handled by Razorpay; we store the Razorpay order and payment ids so a paid request can be matched. The banner is public for as long as the ad runs.

Deleting it

Send a note through the correction form with the email address involved and we will remove everything attached to it.

Who else sees it

Nobody, beyond the companies that host this site and its database, and Microsoft for the Clarity usage data described above. Company and investor records themselves are compiled from public sources, each of which is linked from the page.
